13/02/2025 11:15 AEDT - Please be advised of a service disruption affecting Internet / Transmission services around the area of Sydney, NSW. Our T3 teams have been engaged to investigate and identify the cause of the disruption. An ETR will be provided once our initial investigation is complete. Further updates will be provided within the next 2 hours.
13/02/2025 12:30 AEDT - The Supplier observed multiple services impacted in Sydney NSW, affecting metro transmission and NBN services due to a contractor performing splicing activities and inadvertently impacting fibres. All services have now been restored as of 12:04 AEDT 13/02. If you are still experiencing any issues or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us
Official update from nbn: Please note this is a retrospective notification. nbn was made aware of a network incident which impacted users in Braddon, ACT. Investigation has found the root cause of this incident was a faulty Expandable Control Module (XCM) which self-restored. The incident occurred between 12/2/2025 10:40 AM and 12/2/2025 10:45 AM. Customers who are still experiencing issues should be advised to restart their modem. No further updates will be provided by nbn on this incident.
We are now resolving this outage as fixed as services have restored. We are awaiting an update from multiple upstream providers as to what the issue was but it was very clear it was only the Civic 9CIV nbn poi and as multiple providers were affected we suspect this was related to the nbn itself.
Most services are restoring but we are still observing some clients that have not reconnected. Please try power cycling your modem/router off for a minute and then turning it back on to regain connectivity. If this does not occur after 5mins please contact us.
Some services have regained connectivity but we are seeing some services still down, we are investigating and contacting upstream providers.
We observed most services connected to the nbn Civic POI (9CIV) drop connectivity for us 3-4 mins but regain connectivity. This was across multiple upstream carriers which indicates an issue at the nbn level. We are monitoring this situation and investigating this for more information.
Unfortunately we have not been able to contact the upstream provider as their systems are currently down. We are monitoring this closely and attempting to make contact but its a large national outage for a tier 1 carrier so they are aware of the issue.
We observed a large event where some of nbn customers are disconnected at the same time. This is related to a major outage with our national nbn upstream aggregator. This does not affect all services, only nbn fttn/fttc tagged services.
The suppliers are doing FTTN node RCD testing for the following DSLAMs.
All nodes below will have an outage of approximately 30mins at some point in the day of schedule.
